Reading is one of the giants of the UK festival scene. It’s been running since 1989 and has since hosted megastars like Blur, Radiohead, Arctic Monkeys, and Blink 182. Like it’s younger sibling, Leeds Festival, Reading is a little slice of alternative rock heaven that closes out every British summer. This year sees a massive variety of artists, from psychedelic pop-rock duo, Twenty One Pilots, to grime queen Lady Leshurr. They kick off the event on Friday 26th with Asking Alexandria, Crystal Castles, and Die Antwoord. Then the incomparable Red Hot Chili Peppers take over the stage on Saturday 27th with support from breakout American rock group Imagine Dragons, who rose to international acclaim with the album ‘Night Visions’, which debuted the No.1 single Radioactive. Finally, Sunday 28th sees two of the biggest alternative rock bands in the world gracing the same stage. Biffy Clyro and Fall Out Boy will each deliver an enormous set with support from this year’s festival regulars, The 1975. Weekend tickets start from just £213.00, but there are plenty of optional extras worthy of attention.
Camping is the essence of a festival experience, but nobody said it has to be messy. Reading offers a range of luxury camping options with private showers, pamper parlours and clean – yes, clean – toilets. It makes a nice change from the mud and the sweat, but keeps you close to your mates and the other music lovers who’ll be stumbling to and from the stages alongside you.
If ease and comfort are at the forefront of your mind, then add a little more affordable ease to your trip with Megabus. Our stops in both Reading and Oxford put you within a 20-minute drive from Reading’s ancestral home at Little John’s Farm. And if you’d rather keep it old school, there’s a generous luggage capacity per passenger. Struggling to put a tent up is part of the experience too! We’d like to show you how to do it, but we’re concentrating on getting you there.
