Lovebox returns to London’s Victoria Park in 2017, for another weekend of live music and madness. The annual dance festival celebrates its 15th birthday in style this year, with acts like Frank Ocean topping the bill.
The popular festival sees a 50,000-strong crowd dancing to some of the world’s biggest dance music acts and DJs in the London sunshine. And although Lovebox doesn’t offer camping facilities, it’s located in perfect distance of hotels and nightlife, keeping the party going after the music finishes. Tickets for Lovebox 2017 start from £54.50 for a day ticket, while you can enjoy the full weekend of music from just £105.50.
Travelling to Lovebox with Megabus is simple, with services running from 66 different nationwide locations. From our London bus stop, you’ll be just a short tube ride away from the festival site and your accommodation.
Lovebox started in 2002, as a dance music night held by Groove Armada. Celebrating its one-year anniversary in 2003, Lovebox hosted a live outdoor music event – and hasn’t looked back since. The festival continues to grow year on year, moving to a two-day event in 2005 and currently hosting up to 50,000 music-lovers per day across its Friday and Saturday weekends. Lovebox’s popularity has seen sister events take-off in Newcastle, Dublin and even the renowned party-island, Ibiza.
Over its 14-year stint, Lovebox has welcomed some of the biggest global music acts to its stages, including Snoop Dogg, Jamiroquai, Ellie Goulding, Plan B, Rudimental and most recently Major Lazer. And although the festival predominantly showcases electronic and dance music, it‘s also seen memorable sets from performers of all genres like The Wombats, Lana Del Ray, Florence and the Machine, and even the iconic Duran Duran.
This year Lovebox marks its 15th year with global singer and rapper Frank Ocean headlining the main stage. Crowd favourites Chase and Status also top a line-up that’s littered with DJs and dance music talent from all over the world. Lovebox 2017 takes place on Friday 14th and Saturday 15th July, and is not to be missed.
The Lovebox 2017 line-up is arguably the London festival’s strongest yet, with two days full of household names and fan favourites. US rapper Frank Ocean headlines the Friday night of the festival, in what will be one of only two festival appearances in 2017. After the long-awaited release of his album Blonde last year, Ocean delivers a set list packed with relatable and heart felt lyrics. Chase and Status take the top spot on the Saturday night, with energetic dance music that’s guaranteed to get the whole crowd pumped. The London duo have produced some of the biggest dance hits of the last decade, and a hometown headlining slot in the sunshine sounds like a match made in heaven.
Rag ‘n’ Bone Man is hot property in the music industry at the moment – on the back of his debut album Human, which went to number one in an incredible 7 countries. The East-Sussex born singer has gained attention for his honest song writing and catchy hooks, and will take his album on the road with him in 2017 before he takes to the Lovebox stage. Homegrown talents Jess Glynne and Anne-Marie are also set to appear over the weekend, bringing pop and dance anthems that have rocked the charts in the last few years.
Other acts to look out for at Lovebox 2017 include Solange, who not only won a Grammy award for Best R&B performance, but also achieved a number one US album in 2016, with Seat at the Table. Kurupt FM gained a cult following for their BBC comedy People Just Do Nothing, and are set to blast their unique brand of garage and drum and bass at this year’s festival.
The food at Lovebox is like no festival you’ve ever experienced. Forget soggy chips and dry pizza – Lovebox hosts a mouth-watering catering selection. The Cheese Truck has become part of the fabric of the festival, offering a delicious selection of cheesy sandwiches and toasties. The signature cheese and bacon toastie is pure bliss after a day of drinking and dancing. Other festival food options include a jerk chicken stand and Smokestak, the BBQ specialists.
The Lovebox party doesn’t end with its 10:45pm curfew. Every year, a series of East London night clubs open their doors to host the After Dark festival after party until the early hours. Past after party acts include MK, Shy FX and Groove Armada – a line-up worthy of the festival itself.
In between your favourite acts, why not visit one of the festival cocktail bars? Refreshing and flavourful cocktails certainly make a change from classic paper cups of cider. The Pop Tart Boutique is the perfect place to find your dream summer and festival outfits, and they also offer face-painting and glitter makeovers. Other Lovebox festival activities include organised ping pong battles and a karaoke camp.
